Closing Bell
Stock markets lower on Tuesday after rupee declined and crude prices jumped. The Sensex closed 175 points down at 34,299 levels. whereas the Nifty closed 47 points down at 10,301 level. There is pressure on the market due to weak signals in banks, auto, FMCG and realty stocks. During the trading session, the Sensex touched a low of 34,233.50 and the Nifty touched to 10,279.35 levels.
In the major stocks, there was a fall in RIL, Tata Motors, ITC, HUL, ICICI Bank, Maruti, Asian Pets, SBI.
Rupee all-time low
Rupee crossed the 74 per dollar for the third time in Tuesday's trading. The rupee plunged 39 paise to 74.27 against the dollar in early trade.
Earlier, the rise in the domestic share market started on Tuesday with signs of rupee appreciation and global market sentiment.
The Sensex gained 177 points and opened at 34,652 level. At the same time, the start of the Nifty was at 42, with the increase of 10,390 levels.
Midcap and Smallcap
Midcap and smallcap shares have also declined along with large caps. BSE's mid-caps index dropped 0.16 percent, while the Nifty Midcap 100 index was down 0.32 percent. BSE's Smallcap Index fell by 0.45 percent.
