Sensex surges 275 points after RBI rate hike decision, Nifty ends at 10,684

BSE Sensex closed higher by 275.67 points, or 0.79%, to 35,178.88 level, while the Nifty 50 up by 91.50 points, or 0.86%, to ended at 10,684.65. Outperforming the benchmark, BSE MidCap and SmallCap surged 1.28% and 1.53%.All the sectoral indices gained led by telecom (3.02%), consumer durables (2.32%), metal (1.72%), realty (1.47%) and power (1.45%) on BSE. the Nifty PSU Bank Index jumped 2.53% led by Allahabad Bank, Indian Bank and Union Bank On NSE.Bharati Airtel, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma and SBI were top gainers, whereas ONGC, Asian Paints, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank were among the major losers.
